The word of has as its simplest meaning: ‘belonging to’, that is, a phrase containing of expresses the idea that a thing is used by, and under the control of, its owner. The flag of Zambia, for example, is for use by the people of Zambia and is under their control. Nobody else can use it properly unless with the permission and by the direction of the government and people of Zambia. Let us explore this idea as it relates to the Old Testament, which is the word of God.
